Running of the horses is DEFINITELY one of the highlights of the week. Here is a little glimpse of the festivities:

SLIIIIIDEE
Sorry for all the posts in one day, but Monday has sort of turned into a catch up on the past week's happenings.
So on Friday! Travis (and a few other of us staff) got to slipe and slide with the 5 or so kids who chose not to go whitewater rafting that day. It more or less turned into a staff free for all (who let the big kids play!) while the guests tried not to get run over.
Here are some highlights:
Brr... its cold. Waiting for things to start.

FAST!!

Giggling the whole way down...

Looks like we may have a bit of a collision

MUCH better this time...

The Wranglers weren't as graceful..

Until next time!

Kid Mountain!
I still don't know who had more fun this day...
Travis and I traveled to Kid's Mountain: a park located at the heart of downtown Burnsville. We had the park to ourselves which was sort of a disappointment because I'm sure Travis would rather play with kids who are actually three than a 25 yr old who acts like she's three. But due to the lack of other kids, I actually got to play which probably wouldn't have worked out otherwise.
Ok- so a little disclaimer about this first picture. I tried and tried to get him to swing normal, but this is how he wanted to do it!

GIT COW!!
Saturday was a REALLY fun day. We got to head over to Buladean, North Carolina for a little bit of team sorting. While sorting was scheduled to start at 2, in true NC fashion the event didn't start until 5. So we (and by we this time I mean solely Travis) played in the sand with dump trucks until the games begun.
Then the real fun started...

Travis was even nice enough to let me run a couple times midst babysitting. :)

Then Travis got to get in on the action

But all Travis REALLY wanted to do was yell at the cows...
However, cows and horses waned Travis' attention span but luckily the river nearby needed lots of rocks and sticks thrown in it. Phew! :)

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!
Current weather forecast? Rain with a chance of showers and more rain. The ranch is DEFINITELY not experiencing a drought year, which is has been rare in years past.
Plenty of rain also means having to be creative on how Travis and I spend our mornings. I'm pretty strick on only an hour a day of TV which consists of Dora and the Penguins of Madagascar. :)

We've been doing a lot of coloring and playing with lightning McQueen (which only Travis can touch FYI ;) and other creative options.

He liked coloring the cranes the best. :)

Luckily the rain cleared up a little bit where we could sneak down to the tire swing at the barn and steal a couple of wranglers (Thanks Katie and Adam!) to push the swing around a little bit.
FYI, the tire swing is a GREAT place to meet the ladies! ;)

Pool Time!!
In my opinion, one of the greatest perks that come with living on a dude ranch, you know besides the horses, multitude of dirt piles to play in, everyone saying Hey Travis! when they see you, and the kitchen ladies always trying to feed you dessert is the POOL!
Travis had a whole entourage the other day accompany him to the pool including me (Danielle), Vanessa, Paige, Jace, Kirsten and Sabrina. We're doing OK on kicks but need to work over the water in the ears fear.
We got some new diving rings, goggles, and arm floaties so hopefully this helps! More pictures to come soon. :)
